A mobile operator commissioned a voicemail system from a group of student programmers. They delivered—and that marked the beginning of Eastwind. Two years later, the team released its first billing system.

The EW Billing System project for Tajik operator Babilon-Mobile became a finalist at the World Billing Awards. Eastwind became a certified Microsoft partner and ranked third among Huawei Technologies suppliers in the CIS.

The team launched two new solutions: the EW AdTarget campaign manager for marketing automation and the EW Social Analytics platform—Eastwind’s first big data product.

Eastwind won the tender to deliver a marketing platform for Kazakhstan's operator Kcell. That same year, the team started developing the operator messaging app EW Polyphone.

Eastwind acquired its first banking-sector client, launching a USSD messaging service to provide internet banking access codes.

In partnership with Beeline Tajikistan, Eastwind launched EW SMS Firewall to combat SMS spam. The team also completed work on EW Event Processing, a trigger-based platform for real-time marketing.

Eastwind signed a government contract with the Republic of Myanmar to implement CEIR—a system for mobile device control. Eastwind solutions are now installed in 17 countries. The company became the CIS telecom market leader in the number of CVM solution deployments.
